Yezidis

Wahhab is a Yazidi. They are a religious minority from Iraq. Approximately 5000 Yazidis live in the Netherlands. His family fled North Iraq in 2012.

In 2014, this unknown people made the headlines when they became the target of persecution and terror by ISIS. Their religion shows a combination of Christian, Islamic and Hindu elements. Symbols like the snake and a peacock-shaped angel play an important role. In other religions, these symbols represent the devil and that is why the Yazidis have been seen as devil worshippers for years. They are the victims of many persecutions.
